Lions Clubs International is the worlds largest service club organizaton with 1.3 million men and women in 45.000 clubs in over 200 countries , Lions are men and women who volunteer their time in humanitarian causes. Founded in 1917, the volunteer organizations motto is "WE SERVE." Worldwide, Lions clubs are recognized for their service to the blind and visually impaired. The Santee Chapter of the International Associatoin of Lions Clubs was established in November of 1990.
Our intention is to promote liberty, intelligence and our nation's safety by creating and fostering a spirit of understanding among the people of the world, promoting the principles of good government and good citizenship, taking an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of our community, uniting members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding, providing a forum for open discussion of all matters of public interest and encouraging service minded persons to serve their community without personal financial reward.
The Lions Club supports the community in a variety of ways. We supply glasses and hearing aids to adults and children in need. We participate in community fund raisers that benefit our school children. We contribute to other service organizations such as Guide Dogs of America, City of Hope and the Site First II Campaign, Lions Project Canine Companions for Independence,
